Laboratoire d'Ingenierie des Systèmes Mécaniques et des MatériauxLISMMA - EA 2336

The Institut Supérieur de Mécanique de Paris (SUPMECA) is an Engineering School in Mechanics created in 1948 jointly by the Federation of Mechanical Industries and by the French Ministry of Education. It is an Établissement Public à Caractère Scientifique, Culturel et Professionnel (EPCSCP) settled in the north of Paris and in Toulon.

Supmeca is member of the Polyméca network and trains approximately 600 students over 3 years up to master degree. Supmeca hosts the Laboratoire d’Ingénierie des Systèmes Mécaniques et des MAtériaux (LISMMA) including 33 professors, 31 PhD students and post-doct, 11 technicians and engineers.

LISMMA is part of the Institut Fédératif de Recherche Paris-Nord Plaine de France (6 labs) and of the doctoral schools Sciences Mécaniques, Acoustique et Electronique de Paris (ED 391, University PMC Paris) and Sciences pour l’Ingénieur (ED 287, Ecole Centrale de Paris). LISMMA has strong implications and couplings with the industry and maintains efficient technology transfers within regular industrial partnerships.

The research topics are mechanical design, logistics, contact mechanics, materials and vibroacoustics. Research related to noise control deals with passive method including sound absorbing materials (granular media, poroelastic and structural finite/continuous element, multilayer modeling and experimental characterization) and active or semi-active vibration control. The related main facilities of the laboratory in this field are: ultrasonic facilities, coupled reverberant and anechoic rooms, laser vibrometer, acoustic impedance tube, transfer method matrix code, FEM code including poroelastic elements.

The Vibroacoustics and Structural Dynamics group have been involved in European projects, in particular the CASSEM project (Vibration control in a smart way: Contract n°FP6-NMP3-CT-2005-013517, 2005-2008, Prof. A. Benjeddou) and the CREDO project (Cabin noise Reduction by Experimental and numerical Design Optimization: Contract n°030814-AST5-CT-2006-030814, 2006-2009, Prof. N. Dauchez). Finally, Dr. S. Job is involved in the ANR/CONICYT international cooperation MICMACGRAINS between France and Chile (Dynamics of granular materials: Contract n°ANR-09-BLAN-0389, from 03/2010 to 02/2013).

In this project, LISMMA is mainly involved in the design, measurement and modeling of broadband porogranular materials.
